O quarteto britânico Wild Beasts que já tanto nos encantou por terras lusas está de volta aos discos. Boy King é o nome do novo e quinto trabalho da banda de Leeds, sucedendo Present Tense (2014). Gravado no ano passado entre Dallas e Londres, Boy King chega às lojas a 5 de agosto via Domino Records.
“Get My Bang” é o primeiro avanço de Boy King, retratando uns Wild Beasts mais electrónicos (tendência que já vem de Present Tense) e de espírito mais funk. Comparações com tune-yards ou mesmo Holly Herndon são inevitáveis. Oiçam por vocês mesmo.
Segundo a press release do álbum, Hayden Thorpe afirmou:
It became apparent that that guitar almost became the character within the songs, that phallic character, the all-conquering male. I’m letting my inner Byron fully out, I thought I’d tucked him away, but he came screaming back like the Incredible Hulk. … I think Boy King is an apocalyptic record. It’s about swimming in the abyss. When you think about sex, you’ve got to think about death, they’re one and the same.
