Belgian doom band von Stroheim is going to release its debut album, Love? Who Gets Love? at the end of this week and, today, we are premiering the stream of this wonderful piece of eight songs that are totally unlikely to let you sleep. With chaotic environments crossed with sweet melodies and different vocal experimentations, von Stroheim explores a wonderful and very complex sound atmosphere. Sometimes projecting us into the melancholy of life, sometimes in its brutality, other times in its uncertainty.
With this new record Love? Who Gets Love? – a biting treatise on love soured where all of the femmes are fatal – the band takes advantage of timely and obscure soundscapes, which imposes a clear and grieving female voice (“For A Beautiful Girl”, “Cigarette Smoke”), an interesting masculine spoken-word (“Pulp”) and a lot of other voice explorations set in a darkening world view (“Red Raw”).
